General Summary

The Eastern Michigan University School of Music & Dance invites applications for a Full-Time Lecturer in Music. The successful candidate will teach both Music Theory courses as well as direct the EMU Drumline as part of the EMU Marching Band. Please note that this full-time appointment (subject to EMU’s contract with the EMU Federation of Teachers) that requires in-person instruction on Eastern Michigan University’s campus in Ypsilanti, Michigan.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Teaching includes courses in Music Theory, Aural Skills, and related courses, as well as serving as the director of the EMU Drumline. Teaching may also include a number of particular obligations which employees are expected to fulfill, including but not limited to: meeting with students during and outside of assigned classes, assessing student work and performance, preparing syllabi and course materials, providing copies of syllabi and course materials to their supervisor on request, and assigning and submitting grades in accordance with established Eastern Michigan University schedules.

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum qualifications include a Master of Music degree in a relevant specialty, experience teaching Music Theory related courses at the college level, and experience directing a college marching band drumline.
