General Summary

The School of Nursing is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Graduate Assistant (GA) to support teaching, research, and program operations. The GA will work closely with the Nursing Skills Lab Supervisor, faculty, staff, and students to enhance the learning environment and contribute to the mission of the School of Nursing. This is an on-campus position located at Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, Michigan.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Graduate Assistants may support a range of activities based on their skills, interests, and the needs of the School of Nursing.

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Assisting with preparation of course materials, grading, and proctoring exams.
  • Supporting skills and simulation labs, including equipment setup, standardized patient participation, and student debriefing.
  • Providing tutoring, mentoring, and academic support for undergraduate and pre-licensure nursing students.
  • Conducting literature reviews and assisting with data collection and analysis.
  • Preparing materials for manuscripts, presentations, and conferences.
  • Maintaining course sites (e.g., Canvas/Blackboard) and assisting with scheduling.
  • Supporting accreditation and assessment efforts through data collection and reporting.
  • Assisting with student recruitment events, workshops, and communications.
  • Troubleshooting educational technology platforms and creating digital learningresources.
  • Supporting health fairs, community service projects, and student engagement initiatives.

Time Commitment: 20 hours per week.

Minimum Qualifications:

Enrollment in at least 6 credit hours per semester in a School of Nursing graduate program (MSN, DNP, or PhD).

Strong organizational and communication skills.

Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and peers.

Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Michigan.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in clinical nursing, research, or academic support.
