The Interior Design Program within the School of Visual & Built Environments is seeking a
part-time lecturer whose responsibilities could include teaching: Evidence-Based Design &
WELL, Interior Design Materials and Components, Healthcare facilities that include multi-floor
hospitals and critical components such as emergency rooms and surgery units, and technical
writing related to Interior Design, Architecture, and closely related areas. Instruction could be at
either the undergraduate or graduate level depending upon educational degree completion and
related industry expertise.
Responsibilities:
Teaching may include several obligations that employees are expected to fulfill, including but
not limited to the following:
Meeting with students during and outside of assigned classes.
Assessing student work and performance.
Preparing syllabi and course materials.
Providing copies of syllabi and course materials to their supervisor on request.
Assigning and submitting grades following established Eastern Michigan University
schedules.
Perform related departmental duties as required.
Qualifications:
Interior Design education and experience. Master's degree completed, able to teach lecture or
studio courses in the CIDA-accredited program. A Bachelor’s degree with extensive industrial
experience of at least three years may be considered. Priority is for candidates with teaching
experience in Interior Design.
