General Summary
Design and implement career exploration and planning activities for the University Advising & Career Development Center.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in the design and implementation of career exploration and career development activities for students and alumni in collaboration with academic advisors and employer development and outreach personnel.
- Administer and interpret appropriate career development assessment instruments.
- Advise faculty, staff, administrators and students on determining career plans, goal-setting, employment trends and job search-related activities.
- Assist with development and implementation of a communications plan and strategies for reaching out to and assisting undeclared students and to students with high degree of change in major choice.
- Collaborate with academic advisors in providing holistic services and support to students.
- Work with assigned college(s) to address needs of students who are rejected from second admission programs and majors.
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of appropriate colleges/academic departments and corresponding University Advising & Career Development Center resources.
- Conduct seminars/presentations on career-related assessments, interviewing techniques, resume preparation and job search strategies. Evaluate annually to check for accuracy and reflection of appropriate trends.
- Assist with the evaluation of resource offerings and in determining which resources to continue/discontinue or add to the University Advising & Career Development Center.
Represent department at meetings & conferences and serve on University/departmental committees.
- Perform related departmental duties, as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
Knowledge and skills in Career Services, typically acquired through the completion of a Master's degree in a related field, is necessary.
At least one year of directly related professional experience in Career/Student Services is required.
