General Summary

The Board of Regents Office at Eastern Michigan University is looking to hire a full-time (20 hr./week) Work Study Graduate Assistant. In this role, the applicant will be assisting the Vice President and Secretary to the Board of Regents and members of the Board. Responsibilities for this position will include preparation for Regents meetings, website updates, event planning, assistance with managing the undergraduate student staff, budgeting work, and more.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • In consultation with one or more staff or faculty members, assist in the support of the affairs of a program, department, office and/or curriculum.
  • Other departmental related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

In order to be successful in this position, the candidate must have excellent communication and organization skills, a positive attitude, and the willingness to assist in any way possible.

The ability to work well with others and take initiative are highly valued in this position.

Applicants who apply will also be asked to consider starting early as a Student Assistant to become acclimated with the office. This role would fit well with applicants who are looking to obtain their master's in Higher Education, Management, Communications, Student Affairs or Public Administration, but all are welcome and encouraged to apply.

The Applicants who apply should have strong communication skills, excellent computer skills, pay attention to details, and be eager to take initiative. This position will be particularly special for students with an interest in working with the Board of Regents, the President's Office, and other University leadership offices as well as local and state government.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with Microsoft Office, Adobe, copying, and professional writing are preferred.

Prior experience working in a university office is preferred.
