Bright Futures 21st CCLC, an EMU network of high-quality afterschool programs in 22 schools across Ypsilanti, Romulus, and Wayne-Westland Community School Districts. The programs are federally funded and supported by the State of Michigan’s Department of Education and the Michigan Lifelong Education, Advancement and Potential (MILEAP) Department.

We are one of the largest networks in the region, supporting over 150 staff, volunteers, and vendors. Our vision and mission is to provide high-quality educational and enrichment opportunities to students living in vulnerable and under-resourced communities. We strive to be of best and highest service to young people, their families, and communities.

The Administrative Support GA will commit to a term of service beginning early October 2025 through the end of the winter term in late April/early May 2026.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Overall Goal of the Administrative Support Graduate Assistant:

  • The goal is to increase support for the network, specifically the business and administrative side of our work, by helping with tasks such as organizing and maintaining files, coordinating staff, vendor, and volunteer paperwork, supporting network-wide communications, and planning training logistics (space reservations, food ordering, materials, etc.).

Rationale:

  • Bright Futures is a large network serving staff and youth in three districts and nearly 25 municipalities. We work to meet the needs of the communities we serve, the landscape of EMU, MDE/MILEAP, and to adequately provide the supports that are needed. We are looking to support a current Graduate Student to learn about this exciting and necessary work and the critical role of business and operations. We serve thousands of young people and their families, and can’t do it successfully without the support of a strong business and operations area.

    • Planning training logistics such as space, meals, and materials
    • Prepare budget trackers
    • Creation of documents and resources
    • Supporting staff with business-related needs
    • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Enrollment in an EMU master’s degree program in Business, Public Administration, Education, or a related field.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with staff and community members, including those from diverse backgrounds.
  • Previous experience demonstrating strong leadership abilities, influencing others in a positive manner while achieving goals, and effectively communicating ideas and generating support for ideas.
  • Ability to work independently and analytically, exercise discretion, and good judgment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and computer skills.
