General Summary

The Department of Accounting, Finance, and Information Systems in the College of Business (COB) is seeking a new Part-Time Lecturer to teach undergraduate courses in the new Financial Planning and Wealth Management (FPWM) BBA program. This program prepares students to become financial advisors, wealth managers, and estate planners. The curriculum is designed to align closely with the requirements for the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) certification, ensuring that graduates are well-prepared to sit for the CFP examination.

The lecturer may teach courses in the areas of general financial planning, investment strategies, estate planning, wealth management, retirement planning, and risk and insurance strategies, as well as the capstone course in financial plan development (CFP
preferred). Courses will be delivered online asynchronously through prerecorded lectures and assignments (there are no scheduled class times for this instructional modality). The College offers AACSB accredited graduate and undergraduate programs in business.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Teaching may include a number of particular obligations which employees are expected to fulfill, including but not limited to: meeting with students during and outside of assigned classes, assessing student work and performance, preparing syllabi and course materials, providing copies of syllabi and course materials to their supervisor on request, and assigning and submitting grades in accordance with established Eastern Michigan University schedules.

Perform related departmental duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

Candidates should possess either a Master of Science in Finance (or Financial Planning) or a Master of Business Administration with a concentration in finance or a closely related discipline, preferably from an AACSB accredited business school. Preference will be given to individuals holding the CFP certification as well as those who have an undergraduate or graduate degree in financial planning.

Preferred Qualifications:

Candidates who are currently working in the field of financial planning and/or wealth management are preferred. Also, candidates with prior teaching or training experience and positive evaluations are highly desired.

Evidence of success in teaching or training is required for assignments to more advanced undergraduate courses.

Special Instructions:

Applicants should submit a CV; names and contact information for two references; and a letter of interest that includes the general course areas they are interested in teaching.
