General Summary
The Exercise Science program within the School of Health Promotion and Human Performance at Eastern Michigan University invites applications for a Full-Time Lecturer to teach undergraduate Exercise Science courses, including laboratory sections. The successful candidate must be available to teach in person, on Eastern Michigan University’s main campus.
This is an eight-month, non-tenure track contract with the possibility of renewal in subsequent academic years.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
The primary professional responsibility of the Lecturer is teaching. The contractual teaching load is 15 contact hours per semester, with course assignments determined by the department.
The program seeks candidates qualified to teach the following courses:
• Introduction to Exercise Science
• Human Physiology Laboratory
• Exercise Physiology Laboratory
• Practicum in Exercise Science
• Exercise Testing
The Lecturer may also be assigned other courses based on program and departmental needs. Teaching responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Assessing student learning and performance
• Submitting grades in accordance with established University schedules
• Developing and maintaining course syllabi that meet University standards
• Providing syllabi and course materials to supervisors on request
• Holding weekly, in-person office hours at times accessible to students
• Communicating with students via email in a timely manner
• Preparing instructional materials and maintaining current lecture and laboratory content
• Collaborating with the Department Head, program coordinators, and faculty on curriculum, instruction, and assessment
• Engaging in ongoing professional development to maintain disciplinary expertise
• Performing other related departmental duties as assigned and consistent with the terms of appointment
Minimum Qualifications:
Master's Degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Exercise Physiology, or a closely related field.
