General Summary

The Counseling Program is seeking applicants for a tenure-track faculty position with specialization in School Counseling to begin in August 2026. This is a tenure-track position requiring in-person, on-site engagement in teaching, service, and professional activities on campus.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

• Teach and advise graduate students in the CACREP-accredited counseling programs, including teaching courses specific to school counseling.
• Engage in scholarship and professional, community, and university service activities.

Minimum Qualifications:

Required Qualifications

  • At a minimum, candidates must have earned a doctorate by August 2026 in Counseling/ Counselor Education from a CACREP-accredited program or have experience teaching as a full-time faculty member in a CACREP program sufficient to be considered core faculty.
  • Strong background and interest in school counseling practice who value leadership, advocacy, and systemic change in P-12 settings.
  • Demonstrated commitment to social justice, equity, and inclusion, and preparing counselors from marginalized populations.
  • An established research agenda.
  • Identification with the counseling profession, as evidenced by professional memberships and leadership activities.
  • Eligibility for licensure as a professional counselor in Michigan and the capacity to meet the requirements for a Michigan School Counselor License or National Certified School Counselor via NBCC.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in designing and implementing curriculum in socioemotional learning or college and career readiness, clinical supervision, understanding of trauma-informed education, and evidence of collaboration across disciplines.
  • Expertise in school restorative justice practices, special education, and neurodiversity, and/or educational technology.
