General Summary
Teach specific courses, provide professional library service or supervise student teachers.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Teach contractual (15 contact hours per semester) load of courses, both lecture and laboratory, as assigned by the department.
Assign and submit grades in accordance with established University schedules.
Create and maintain syllabi in accordance with established University standards.
Keep posted office hours during the week that are scheduled at times most beneficial to students.
Keep lecture and laboratory courses up to date.
Confer periodically with the Chemistry and Biology Department Heads and applicable coordinators and faculty on curriculum, instruction and assessment issues.
Perform related departmental duties as contractually required.
Assign and submit grades in accordance with established University schedules.
Keep posted office hours during the week which are scheduled at times most beneficial to students.
Minimum Qualifications:
Hold an M.S. in Biology, Chemistry, Fermentation Science or a closely related field,
Have a minimum of four years university teaching experience, and
Have a minimum of two years of leadership experience in the fermentation industry (e.g. head brewer)
Have a track record of fermented food and beverage recipe design and implementation on a variety of scales.
Have a history of successfully working with diverse student populations
Preferred Qualifications:
Have experience teaching both fermentation science and microbiology courses at introductory and advanced levels with a history of curriculum development at each level.
Demonstrate professional involvement in the broader fermentation community.
