General Summary

With supervision from and in close collaboration with the Associate Dean of Students. The case Manager is responsible for managing  Student Conduct cases, supporting practice and procedures, and participating in the creation and dissemination of programs for the Dean of Students Office.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Investigate alleged violations of the Code of Community Responsibility.

  • Facilitate Meetings with students alleged to have violated the Code of.

  • Work with students to develop appropriate action plans to address behavioral concerns. 

  • Assist with the development and implementation of various panel training sessions.

  • Assist with logistical coordination of hearing panels.

  • Coordination and administration of departmental assessment and evaluation initiatives.

  • Actively participate in staff/departmental activities, meetings, or other activities.

  • Represent the office by attending various divisional programs as needed.

  • Assist with the daily operations of the office when needed.

  • Assist with the development, implementation, prioritization, and maintenance of the Dean Of Students Office Website, and Simplicity case management system to achieve area goals. 

  • Maintain process and outcome data for monthly and annual reports.

  • Consult with other professional staff members regarding the care or counseling of individuals with specific needs.

  • Investigate wellness issues related to the University population and environment and assist in securing applicable grants and outside funding sources.

  • Assist in maintaining all required official university records related to the Dean Of Students Office and compile service reports, informational materials, and data reports as needed to support transparency and institutional, local, state, and/or federal mandates/requirements. 

  • Coordinating protocol and process functions related to the Dean of Students Office. Assist in the development, implement, and maintain policies and procedures related to the Dean of Students Office. 

  • Help develop and provide programs and training on behavior and appropriate campus citizenship to students, staff, faculty, organizations, and related university constituents. 

  • Assist with the overall administration of the University's policies and procedures related to the Dean of Students Office.

  • Produce notices and or correspondence that comply with minimum due process and/or applicable standards for timeliness, accuracy, and content. 

  • Manage case files, which includes: creating electronic files using data processing software, providing follow-up on case resolution, updating specific case file notes, and destroying confidential case files and/or records per Dean Of Students Office Policies. 

  • Prepare files in response to subpoenas and requests from Legal Affairs as needed. 

  • Make appropriate referrals to internal or external sources. 

  • Maintain appropriate case records by documenting communications with and regarding student, staff, and/or faculty interactions in the Dean Of Students Office Database. 

  • Maintain appropriate confidentiality in all forms of communication, complying with FERPA, university, and Dean Of Students Office Guidelines. 

  • Perform related Departmental duties, as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Basic knowledge of various university policies, state laws, and federal regulations that impact the daily work within the department.

  • Proficient computer skills. (Internet, E-mail, MS Office)

  • Strong oral and written communication.

  • Well-developed interpersonal skills with excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to give group presentations.

  • Ability to work independently yet collaboratively and strong interpersonal and facilitation skills are required.

Special Instructions:

 

Work is performed in a typical office environment, with some travel and transporting of materials.
