General Summary

The Graduate Assistant (GA) will be assigned to work closely with one or more faculty members, and assist with scholarly and teaching related activities. The scope of work potentially includes phases of research from literature review, data collection, analysis, writing and preparation/presentation of findings, data entry, and other office support type activities.

Period of Employment: August 2026-April 2027. Second-year appointment is contingent on performance, academic success, and resources.


The Graduate Assistant receives a stipend and a tuition waiver.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support staff, faculty members and students in the classroom and/or with grading, materials prep, data entry and related activities within the department’s academic specialties.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ability to work 20 hours per week (100% graduate assistantship) is required
  • An earned Bachelor's degree is required
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher is required
  • Maintenance of a 67% course completion is required
  • Admission and enrollment in a graduate program at Eastern Michigan University is required
  • Enrollment in at least 6 graduate credits during each semester is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Teaching and/or Tutoring experience is helpful
