General Summary

The School of Nursing invites applications for possible part-time positions teaching nursing courses in the clinical setting (didactic teaching may also be an opportunity but most needs are in clinical courses).  Potential courses for pre-licensure students include Fundamentals, Maternal-Child Nursing (obstetrics), Child-Parent Nursing (pediatrics), Adult Health Nursing (med-surg), Community Health Nursing, or Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing clinical courses.  Since these are in-person clinical rotations, you must live near the Southeast Michigan area.  We are not seeking candidates only wanting online work at this time.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Teaching may include a number of particular obligations which employees are expected to fulfill, including but not limited to: providing instruction and evaluation to students in the assigned course, meeting all agency requirements by required by the clinical site, meeting with students during and outside of assigned classes, following syllabus as provided, assessing student work and performance, working with lead faculty to provide optimal learning experiences, and assigning and submitting grades in accordance with established Eastern Michigan University schedules in addition to performing related duties as required by the School.  Instructors teaching in clinical or community agencies must also meet all agency requirements as required by the School and the clinical agency.


  • A graduate degree is required. Example degrees (including but not limited to): MSN, DNP, PhD
  • Candidates with a BSN degree may hold a non-nursing graduate degree, although a graduate degree in nursing is preferred.
  • A minimum of 2 years clinical practice within the specialty area is required.
  • Prior clinical teaching experience is preferred
