General Summary

The Eastern Michigan University School of Music & Dance invites applications for a Part-Time Lecturer in Trumpet. The successful candidate will work in support of our current trumpet faculty, teaching additional applied lessons and/or other trumpet-related courses on an as-needed basis. Please note that this part-time appointment (salaried only, no benefits) requires in-person instruction on Eastern Michigan University’s campus in Ypsilanti, Michigan.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Teaching primarily includes one-on-one applied instruction on an as-needed basis, but could also include other related trumpet courses. Teaching may also include a number of particular obligations which employees are expected to fulfill, including but not limited to: meeting with students during and outside of assigned classes, assessing student work and performance, preparing syllabi and course materials, providing copies of syllabi and course materials to their supervisor on request, and assigning and submitting grades in accordance with established Eastern Michigan University schedules.

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum qualifications include a Master of Music degree or equivalent (preferably in Trumpet Performance), trumpet teaching experience, and a record of recent professional performance.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preferred qualifications include a doctoral degree or progress towards a doctorate, experience teaching applied trumpet at the college level, and other relevant experience.
